Win the Body Acne Battle

Acne is a very real issue that so many of us face, in fact it has probably cemented itself as the bane of the average high schooler’s existence. Now, why is that not everyone gets acne? Why are some less fortunate than others? What causes acne and what can you do to prevent it? Well, we have some answers for you.

The four main causes of acne are:

  • Excess oil (sebum) production
  • Hair follicles clogged by oil and dead skin cells
  • Bacteria
  • Inflammation

However, there are other causes and triggers for acne. Hormonal changes are among those causes. Androgens (hormones) that increase during puberty can cause glands to enlarge and create more sebum. It should also be noted that midlife hormone changes may also lead to breakouts, particularly in women.  Another factor could also be stress. What’s interesting about stress and acne is that stress itself does not actually cause acne, but it can make it worse.

Let’s dive into some of our recommendations on natural products to keep the pimples at bay. Summer is coming and we want you in your bathing suit at the beach without the bummer of body acne holding you back.
