Positive Masculinity: The Ultimate Men’s Self Care Routine


Hey, guys. When you hear the term “self-care” what do you think? Many of us might get an image of hygiene products or perhaps we imagine taking a long hot bath while reading a favorite book. If those are among the images that come to mind, forget them, because that’s not what we are talking about. Self-care is actually exactly what it says: the act of taking time to care of yourself.

Unfortunately, self-care throughout the years has been thought of and marketed as something practiced primarily by women. At Wellth, we would like to do away with that notion because self-care is something that men can absolutely benefit from. Just like women, men need to take care of their mental, physical, and emotional health and Wellth would like to offer a routine on doing so:


  • Start Getting Physical

There are many psychological benefits in physical activity including higher self-esteem, better sleep patterns, and diminished depression and anxiety. The great thing about this, is that being physical doesn’t just have to be limited to a gym workout. It could even be something as simple as taking a morning walk with your friends.


  • Start a Journal

This is a big one because every guy should keep a journal. The reason for this is because journaling trains your brain to focus on the positives in your life rather than negatives. Another great benefit is that while journaling gives you the time for introspection, it can also hold you accountable for your personal goals, so that you are able to keep yourself on track.


  • Just a dab of CBD

CBD is a huge favorite among many. The best part about it is probably its versatility. It is perfect for anxiety, pain caused by stiff joints and/or arthritis, and inflamed skin.   • Use Essential Oils

Essential oils are often used in aromatherapy. Inhaling them is believed to be very beneficial for overall health due to how the are able to interact with  the limbic system. A really cool thing about essential oils is that there’s one for any concern you may have. Essential staples such as peppermint which is used to concentrate focus and boost energy and lavender which perfect for stress and anxiety management.   • Create a Consistent Nighttime Routine

Nothing beats a good night’s sleep. It’s the getting there that can be the issue for some. Fortunately getting there has actually been much simpler than you think. To start off this routine, a nice cup of herbal tea is always recommended. You can find a wonderful selection here. After that cup of tea, lie back with a nice weighted blanket and good book and once you hit that 15 to 30 minute mark, you’ll be ready to drift off in no time.


 Look guys, it’s no secret that this last year has been stressful to say the least. Because of this last year, we must remember that self-care is so important in nurturing not only our minds and bodies, but also our souls. This is not something just for women, it is something men should absolutely start taking part of in order to live up to their full potential.
